Sorry I've been M.I.A. We've had lots going on the last couple of weeks. For starters, Dennie (my mother in law and midens namesake) came down w a rare bacterial infection and, luckily, they rushed to duke. Turns out, she had necrotizing fasciitis which is lethal in 1 of 3 people and most people who have it and survive end up with an extremity amputated. Luckily, Dennie fought both and continues to fight to get her strength and endurance back. Monday was her last procedure in the OR (following 5 other surgeries to clean out the dead tissue) and we feel so blessed that she has come out of all of this ok and with all 4 limbs!!!! Here are some pics of her the weekend before her symptoms started. She and Carl baby sat miden while we went out of town for a wedding.

So, we've been at duke for the last 2 weeks. Dennie was in a medically induced coma for one of those weeks and as soon as she came out of it, Whitten and I decided to let her "reveal" the sex of baby #2. She opened the envelope that we took home from the ultrasound, while we did FaceTime with my parents and miden.
Drumroll.....
It's a........................
BOY!!!!
We are so excited and feel so blessed that we will get the chance to raise a little girl AND a little boy:).
Although the circumstances were not ideal, my parents were so helpful and kept miden (with the help of some greensboro girls as well). Dad really embraced childcare and took baby sitting to a whole new level once mom had to go back to work. Here are some pics of the fun they had...
